LORD, THE IDEA THAT WE DON'T ADVANCE OURSELVES BY BRINGING ATTENTION TO OURSELVES, BY GLORIFYING OURSELVES, BY PUFFING OUR LIVES UP WITH PRIDE, I PRAY, LORD, THAT YOU WOULD JUST GIVE US THE SENSE THAT WHEN WE ARE THE MOST HUMBLE, WE SERVE THE BEST. AND I PRAY THAT YOU WOULD PUT THAT IN OUR HEARTS TO SEE THE HUMILITY OF CHRISTMAS. WE RECENTLY CONDUCTED OUR ANNUAL ENGAGEMENT SURVEY, AND SO SHE'S GOING TO SHOW YOU THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE RESULTS THAT WE RECEIVED FROM THIS YEAR'S SURVEY. THANK YOU. GOOD EVENING. MAYOR. MEMBERS OF CITY COUNCIL. AS CITY MANAGER ORTOWSKI SAID, WE DID JUST RECENTLY COMPLETE OUR 2025 EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY, AND TONIGHT I PLAN TO PROVIDE YOU JUST A QUICK, HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW OF WHAT WE LEARNED. SO, AS YOU KNOW, IN THE EMPLOYER CHOICE PROGRAM IS A KEY PILLAR OF WHAT WE DO. AND ALONGSIDE OUR COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PORTION OF THAT, WORKPLACE CULTURE IS A KEY COMPONENT OF THAT. [00:10:04] AND ONE OF THE WAYS WE TRY TO MEASURE OUR WORKPLACE CULTURE IS THROUGH THE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY. IT'S ONE OF THE MANY TOOLS IN OUR TOOLBOX TO HELP UNDERSTAND THE CURRENT STATE OF OUR WORKFORCE. SO JUST A FEW SPECIFICS ABOUT THE SURVEY. FIRST, THE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED OCTOBER 1ST THROUGH OCTOBER 15TH OF THIS LAST YEAR. WE ADMINISTERED IT THROUGH GALLUP AND USING THEIR PROPRIETARY Q12 EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY. BECAUSE THEY ADMINISTER IT, IT IS ANONYMOUS AND CONFIDENTIAL, AND WE OPEN IT TO ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION AND TAKE THE SURVEY. WE ARE VERY PROUD TO TELL YOU TONIGHT THAT 95% OF OUR EMPLOYEES TOOK THE SURVEY. SO 472 EMPLOYEES OUT OF 498 TOOK THAT SURVEY IN THE TWO WEEK PERIOD, WHICH IS REALLY QUITE ASTOUNDING TO GET THAT HIGH LEVEL OF FEEDBACK FROM OUR EMPLOYEES. AND IT REALLY TELLS US THAT OUR EMPLOYEES UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF THE SURVEY AND THAT WE ACTUALLY TAKE THE RESULTS VERY SERIOUSLY AND USE THEM AS WE MOVE FORWARD WITH THE ORGANIZATION. ON THIS SLIDE, YOU'LL SEE THE 12 ENGAGEMENT QUESTIONS THAT ARE ON THE SURVEY ITSELF. I WON'T GO OVER DETAIL WITH IT, BUT JUST SUFFICE IT TO SAY IT TALKS ABOUT THINGS LIKE CLARITY OF EXPECTATIONS, RECOGNITION, TEAMWORK, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW. THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTANT WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT REALLY DEVELOPING THAT STRONG WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE FOR EMPLOYEES, AND THEN ALSO WORKING TOWARDS A STRONG BUSINESS OUTCOMES. EMPLOYEES ARE ASKED TO REPORT HOW MUCH THEY AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH EACH ONE OF THESE STATEMENTS ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 5, WITH ONE BEING STRONGLY DISAGREE AND FIVE BEING STRONGLY AGREE. WHICH TAKES US TO OUR RESULTS. SO OUR OVERALL ENGAGEMENT MEAN, ON A SCALE OF ABOUT 1 TO 5, WITH FIVE BEING STRONGLY AGREE, WAS A 4.15 ACROSS ALL 12 ELEMENTS. THAT IS AN INCREASE OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR OF 0.09, AND PUTS US AT THE 72ND PERCENTILE ACROSS OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES WHO HAVE TAKEN THE SAME SURVEY WITH GALLUP IN THE SAME TIME FRAME. GALLUP ALSO TELLS US THAT OUR ENGAGEMENT RATIO IS NOW FOR EVERY ONE DISENGAGED EMPLOYEE, WE HAVE JUST OVER EIGHT ENGAGED EMPLOYEES, WHICH IS A REALLY GREAT INCREASE OF OUR ENGAGEMENT. THIS IS MY FAVORITE METRICS WE RECEIVE FROM GALLUP IS OUR ENGAGEMENT INDEX, AND IT TELLS US THE PERCENTAGE OF EMPLOYEES WHO ARE ENGAGED, NOT ENGAGED, OR ACTIVELY DISENGAGED IN THE WORKPLACE. AND THROUGH THIS SURVEY, WE FOUND THAT 57%, MORE THAN HALF OF OUR EMPLOYEES ARE ACTIVELY ENGAGED. THESE ARE THE EMPLOYEES WHO COME TO WORK EVERY DAY. THEY LOVE COMING TO WORK. THEY'RE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE WORKPLACE. THEY ARE REALLY THE PSYCHOLOGICAL OWNERS. THEY DRIVE PERFORMANCE AND INNOVATION. THEY REALLY HELP US MOVE FORWARD. WE'VE GOT ABOUT 36% OF OUR EMPLOYEES WHO GALLUP CONSIDER TO BE NOT ENGAGED. THESE ARE EMPLOYEES WHO ARE GOOD EMPLOYEES. THEY COME TO WORK, THEY DO A GOOD JOB, BUT THEY MAY NOT BE AS PSYCHOLOGICALLY ATTACHED TO THE WORK THAT THEY DO. BUT THEY DO COME AND THEY DO DO A GREAT JOB FOR US. THEY'RE THE GROUP WE WANT TO GET INTO THAT ENGAGED BUCKET. AND THEN GALLUP TELLS US WE HAVE ABOUT 7% OF OUR WORKFORCE WHO ARE ACTIVELY DISENGAGED. THESE ARE THE EMPLOYEES WHO COME TO WORK THAT JUST GENERALLY DON'T LIKE COMING TO WORK WITH US VERY MUCH. THEY MIGHT ACT OUT THEIR UNHAPPINESS. THEY MIGHT UNDERMINE THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING. BUT THE NUMBER OF 7% IS REALLY A GREAT NUMBER. IT ACTUALLY EQUATES TO ONLY ABOUT 35 EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION. WHEN YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE HISTORICAL RESULTS OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, WE'VE BEEN DOING THIS SURVEY SINCE 2013. AND AT THE BEGINNING WE DID IT EVERY OTHER YEAR, AND LAST YEAR WE BEGAN DOING IT EVERY YEAR. SO YOU CAN SEE OUR RESULTS OVER THE LAST DECADE. AND YOU CAN SEE OVER TIME WE STARTED OUT IN 2013 WITH AN ENGAGED PERCENTAGE OF 39%, AND NOW WE'RE AT 57%. SO REALLY GREAT STRIDES. WE'VE MAINTAINED THAT CONSISTENCY OVER THE LAST DECADE, CONTINUING TO MOVE FORWARD. SO THE NATURAL QUESTION IS ALWAYS, WELL THAT'S GREAT. HOW DO WE COMPARE? SO GALLUP PROVIDES US WITH SOME DATA. AND ON THE SCREEN HERE YOU CAN SEE OUR CITY OF SOUTHLAKE ENGAGEMENT PERCENTILES, THE ENGAGEMENT INDEX, AND THEN ALSO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENGAGEMENT INDEXES FROM THE SAME SURVEY. 32% OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES ARE ENGAGED WHEN THEIR EMPLOYEE WORKFORCE, WHEREAS SOUTHLAKE IS 57%. SO QUITE A BIG DIFFERENCE. AND ALSO YOU CAN SEE THAT SAME BENEFIT THERE WITH ONLY 7% OF OUR EMPLOYEES ACTIVELY DISENGAGED WHILE AT THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEVEL ACROSS THE COUNTRY, GALLUP SEES ABOUT 14%. SO WE DO ACHIEVE QUITE BETTER NUMBERS. AND IF YOU LOOK NATIONWIDE, THE NATIONWIDE AVERAGE FROM ALL EMPLOYERS ACROSS GALLUP'S DATABASE IS ABOUT 31%. AND GLOBALLY, ONLY 21% OF EMPLOYEES ARE ENGAGED. SO 57% ENGAGEMENT RATIO IS REALLY QUITE GOOD FOR OUR ORGANIZATION, AND WE ARE QUITE PROUD OF THAT. OF COURSE, THIS IS JUST ONE STEP IN OUR MULTI-PRONGED PROGRAM, AS WE TAKE THESE RESULTS, WE'LL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON THE FUTURE. WE'LL TAKE SOME TIME TO UNDERSTAND THE RESULTS. FOR US, THAT MEANS TALKING TO OUR EMPLOYEES. NOW THAT WE HAVE THE NUMBERS, WE WANT TO FIND OUT FROM EMPLOYEES WHAT DO THEY MEAN TO THEM. SO REALLY SIT DOWN WITH THEM AND UNDERSTAND. WE'LL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THOSE STRONG LEADERS AND INTENTIONALLY DRIVE THE CULTURE FORWARD. AND ALL OF THAT, AT THE END OF THE DAY, IS TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES AND REALLY PROVIDE THAT EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE THAT OUR CITIZENS EXPECT WHEN THEY COME TO THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE. SO THAT'S THE HIGHEST HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW OF OUR EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY FOR 2025. I'D BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE THIS EVENING. THANK YOU FOR THAT GREAT REPORT. IT'S NOT PEOPLE RESPONDING WITH NEGATIVE THINGS. THE ENGAGEMENT STATS ARE VERY GOOD. SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP AND ALL YOUR WORK ON THAT. COUNCIL, ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON THAT? SO NOT ONLY WOULD THIS NOT BE VISIBLE FROM THIS AREA, ANY TALKING OR NOISE THAT'S GENERATED ON THIS OUTDOOR AREA WOULD BE TOTALLY BLOCKED OFF FROM GOING THERE, BUT IT WOULD STILL ALLOW VIEWS TO THE EAST AS WELL AS TO THE SOUTH IN THERE. AS FAR AS NOISE GOES, THERE'S NO PLANS FOR ANY OUTDOOR SPEAKERS OR THOSE KINDS OF THINGS. SO IT WOULD MAINLY JUST BE PEOPLE TALKING.
