AND THESE ARE NOT ONLY BEAUTIFUL TREES, BUT SOME OF THE TREES HAVE SOME BACK STORIES. THEY ARE UNIQUE SPECIES AND THEY'RE IN OUR PARKS. AND SO WE THOUGHT WE COMBINE A SCAVENGER HUNT THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO GET OUT INTO OUR PARKS, ENJOY OUR BEAUTIFUL PARKS, ENJOY THE WEATHER AND SEE SOME MAGNIFICENT TREES SOME THAT HAD A STORY. SOME OF THEM HAVE SOME INTERESTING STORIES LIKE THE BICENTENNIAL TREES THAT YOU'LL SEE THE PINE TREES AT THE PARK. THOSE WERE PLANTED BY BOY SCOUTS IN THE MID 70S PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE PARK IN THE LATE 70S. SO THEY HAVE A UNIQUE BACK STORY. YOU LOOK AT THE PARK, THE TREES THAT, FOR INSTANCE AT LIBERTY PARK AT SHELTONWOOD, THAT HAS A UNIQUE STORY WITH IT. AND YOU CAN FIND OUT WHAT THAT IS IF YOU GO TO ENTER INTO THE CONTEST. AND MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT. BUT YOU GET OUT AND VISIT THE PARK. ROYAL AND ANNIE SMITH PARK THOSE ARE PONDEROSA PINES, AS FAR AS WE KNOW, MAYBE THE ONLY PONDEROSA PINES IN SOUTHLAKE. AND SO THOSE WERE PLANTED BY THE SMITHS AT SOME POINT. AND YOU SEE HOW LARGE THEY ARE. BUT THEY'RE A VERY UNIQUE SPECIES FOR THIS PART OF THE METROPLEX. AND THEN WE'VE GOT THE ELMS THAT ARE THE FOCAL POINT OF THE TOWN SQUARE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE PHOTO AT TOP, THIS WAS A CHICKEN FARM, IT WAS THE ENTRY TO THEIR DRIVEWAY UP TO THE FARM. AND AGAIN, THOSE HAVE AN INTERESTING STORY. AND THE TOWN SQUARE UNITY TREE, WHICH WAS PLANTED TO HONOR THE FALLEN VICTIMS AND THE HEROES OF 9/11. AND SO THESE TREES HAVE SOME SOME INTERESTING BACK STORIES OR UNIQUE SPECIES. YOU CAN LEARN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE TREE ITSELF AND YOU CAN GET OUT INTO THE PARK. AND THE DOCK AREAS ARE AT GRADE. THEY'RE NOT THE 18 WHEELER DOCK AREAS BEING CONSTRUCTED. AND THAT'S TO BRING IN MATERIALS FOR THE FABRICATION THAT TAKES PLACE IN IT.
